Hockey
The U-14 Hockey Team took to the ice on Thursday for their first home game of the season and the team didn’t disappoint beating Greenwood College School, 6-3. With great play at both ends of the ice and another solid performance by Roy Pejcinovski in the net, the U-14 Lions played some good hockey yesterday. Cole Eichler and Samuel Li led the way in scoring with a combined 8 points and Mateo Rocha contributed with a goal and an assist. Keep up the good work, your coaching staff is very proud of you.
The varsity boys hockey team played their first game of the season. After a solid start and some great goal tending from Spencer Whitnall the boys were eventually defeated by HTS 8-2. Team captain Chris Sanders lead the way with a goal and an assist and an epic goal celebration. Andrew Haynes rounded out the scoring late in the game. Special mention to Cole Morrison for his end to end efforts and to Noah Aaron for his solid leadership. The young guns line of Keane, Hanning and Little played solid as well.
Swimming
U14 Swimmers had a great kick-off to their season during their CIS season opener meet. Matthew Laslop placed first in ALL of his events, and Vincent Li came in a close second, shattering all of his last year’s best times. Sydney Zuckerman showed off her amazing dives while Robert Muresan took a chance for the first time with backstroke. First timers Sinuo Ren, Danny He, and Andy Tang took the diving block like champs and achieved great success. Special thanks goes out to Dana Doubovsky for helping as a timer for the event. Great job, swimmers!
Curling
The Boys and Open curling teams traveled to Leaside on Monday night for a set of games against the squads from Bayview Glen.
On the Open side, Bowen Ouyang was the curler of the game. Playing vice for the first time, Bowen hit some key shots, helping the team head into the find end up by 1 rock. Sadly, Bayview Glen was able pick up two in the final end, winning 5-4.
The Boys went up against a very skilled squad. While Skip Matt Holland was able to keep Crestwood in the game, BVG did not let up, and the Boys were bested.
Basketball
The U14 boys basketball team travelled to BVG for their second game of the season. The team got off to a strong start on the offensive side and never looked back. Under the leadership of Elijah Fisher scoring 51 points the team came out victorious with a score of 81-72. Special mention must go out to Caiden Oshinowo for his strong rebounding and Jaden Langley-Tomas for his ball control.
