Dear Parents,
We are initiating 2 separate donation drives to support Ukraine.
Anya Romanenko and her family have started an initiative called “Kids Create Ukraine – a family and friends initiative bringing creativity and joy to the children of Ukraine”. The idea behind this initiative: “We chose art to offer a glimpse of play for the children living in a war zone and a sense of momentary relief for their parents. Art has the potential to support, heal, help process, enhance play, and inspire dreams! We want to bring a little of that childhood magic back.” They are looking for donations of: markers (scented & regular), pencil crayons, gel pens, pastels, crayons, chalk, pipe cleaners, modeling beeswax, Model Magic, colouring books, sketch books, construction paper, rainbow scratch paper, and stickers. Donations will be shipped directly to volunteers in Lviv, Kharkiv, and Khust, who are ready to receive and deliver them to children in those areas.

Secondly, we will be collecting monetary donations to support Canadian Ukrainian Immigrant Aid Society (CAUIS). CUIAS is a non-profit community organization, providing settlement assistance to immigrants for over 30 years with the support of the federal government (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) and provincial government (Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration). We were incorporated in the province of Ontario in 1977. CUIAS is a member organization of the Ukrainian Canadian Congress- National and of the Ontario Council of Agencies Serving Immigrants (OCASI). In the wake of the devastation in Ukraine earlier this year, The CUIAS will put your contribution towards ensuring that the most vulnerable members of the Ukrainian community are welcomed and supported as they journey towards recovering from the devastation of war and settling in their new home, even if it is temporary. For more information, please visit their website: https://cuias.org/wp/.
Art supply donations will be collected in bins just inside the Junior student doors (near the stairs leading to the cafeteria). Donations for the CUIAS can be in cash or in cheques made payable to Crestwood School. We will make a lump sum donation to the CUIAS once all donations have been received.
Thank you in advance for your support with these important initiatives!
