On Thursday, September 19th, 10 Crestwood staff and students participated in WE Day at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. This annual celebration of participation in WE programs always brings together an amazing collection of speakers and musicians to inspire over 30 000 students and educators from all over southern Ontario. At the WE Day Event, we listened to David Suzuki talk about the importance of battling the climate crisis, Dr. Pamela Palmeter speak about building right relationships with indigenous peoples and even Raptors super-fan Nav Bhatia about his fight against racist stereotypes! Musical guests included Sarah Maclachlan, Whitehorse, and James Arthur. We will now try to take the energy and enthusiasm of the day into our YARD/WE projects this year, including next month’s WE Scare Hunger food drive in support of the North York Harvest Food Bank.
