On Thursday, the Grade 3’s went on their first school field trip. As an extension to our Social Studies Unit, Living and Working in Ontario, we jumped on a bus ready to explore our great city. Our first stop was the CN Tower in downtown Toronto. We rode the elevator up to the top to witness the urban sprawl, we compared protected green spaces and commercial spaces, and we even spotted the work place of our mayor. For fun, some of us walked on the glass floor and we walked along the outdoor portion of the observation deck. Our next stop was Riverdale Farm. There we explored the farm buildings and enjoyed viewing the animals on display. We discussed how Riverdale Farm is a true representation of a rural community but on a much smaller scale. We have learned through this unit how Ontario is truly a great place to live!
