The Softball team warmed up for their Final Championship with their last regular season home game against Country Day School on Monday. As on multiple previous occasions, it took Crestwood a few minutes to get started, but when they did start they didn’t stop. The Cubs fielders and outfielders were relentless, getting the 3 outs necessary every single inning in no time at all. As for the offense, Crestwood scored run after run and by the time the 5th inning rolled around the Cubs were cruising with a 6-0 lead. Crestwood continued their strong defence and quickly snuffed out any CDS rallies allowing the Cubs batters to get back to the plate. The game went from fun to really fun for the Cubs as they batted in another 4 runs to make it 10-0. CDS battled back with 2 runs but it was too little too late for the Cyclones. In the post match interview Fred Pikul said: “This was our last game of the regular league season, which would always have put pressure on us to leave a good impression going into the all important final championship. But we were able to relax and enjoy the game and play to a good level. We got a staggering result today, which I think boosts our confidence quite a bit. I’m really happy for the team and I think that we will all practice really hard in the next 2 weeks before we go into the finals that mean a lot to all of us. I think today was a real treat for our fans.” Good luck next week!
