On Saturday, Feb 24th the grade 6, U12 basketball team took to the court for their final tournament of the season. In their first game of the day, Crestwood faced the competitive team from RSGC. Our boys were focused and ready to set foot on the court for a 10:30am tip off. The game saw end to end play until half time where the score was 20 -20. Our bench was a bit short on game day, but that did not stop Fin, Max, Adam and Justin from leaving everything they had on the court, dribbling, shooting and passing as if on fire. Kevin had his best defensive game of the season while, Coen Rickey, and Farnood covered the backboard for rebound after rebound. Missing from the weekend line-up were Jordan and Seth.
The first game ended with Crestwood taking a tough loss. The boys had only 15 minutes to gather their strength, put their game face on to play Montcrest School. With Geoff joining the team for the second game, we felt we had fresh legs and of course the famous Geoff “Curry” shot. The boy’s battled hard, but to no avail, there was very little left in the tank. We lost both games that day, but it didn’t damper our Crestwood spirit or the memories and friendships we made as a result of being part of the U12 BBall team. From the first tryout in November, right through until the tournament in February the coaches and team members participated in 2 tournaments, 9 season games and countless practices. Their skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship grew with each passing month. Mr. Conn and I wanted to thank the parents and players for a fabulous season and we hope you continue your love of basketball, as you move on to your new schools.
