The Grade 3’s visited the Ontario Science Center this week to assess the effects of strong and stable structures on society and the environment. We reviewed the fact that a structure is a supporting framework, with a definite size, shape, as well as purpose, and that a structure holds a load. We were able to identify structures in the natural environment and in the built environment. Can you sort the following into natural structures and human made structures: nest, towers, flag pole, tree, bridge, beehive. All structures must have the ability to maintain balance and stay fixed in one spot. Our Grade 3 engineers used all of this knowledge to build bridges and towers. Take a look at our Strong and Stable structures.
