One of the largest participatory events at Crestwood is the Annual Spring Concert and Art Show which involves more than 200 students every year. Music students from Grades 7 through 12 get to show off their burgeoning talent and musical skills in a Concert Band and Jazz Band setting, performing works which they have been painstakingly perfecting throughout the course of the school year. The result is a performance brimming with energy, enthusiasm and a wee bit of showbiz nervousness. Pieces performed ran the gamut from Classical to Film and Broadway to Jazz with arrangements from the likes of Star Wars, Pirates of the Caribbean, Glee, Annie and even the Blues Brothers.
Similarly, Art students from all grades have their works shown in both a multi-media and a traditional display setting. The foyer of the school is transformed into an art gallery featuring wonderful art pieces in diverse mediums. This year did not fail to impress with a strong collection of work from grades 7 to 12 that included Georgia O’Keefe watercolour flowers (grade 7), Canadian Landscape paintings (grade 9), Skeleton study (grade 10), Fear and Fantasy ink drawings (grade 11), and Realism to Abstraction (grade 12). Please congratulate the artists on work well done.
