Spring Arts Night Spotlight

On Thursday night, CPC halls were transformed into the Crestwood Gallery, featuring work by artists in every grade. The art on display represented the work of all our art students, including a wide variety of forms from mixed media to classic acrylic to skateboard design.

Art teachers Ms. Belanger and Ms. Sawka were both very proud of the work on display and wish to congratulate the students on all their hard work.

Music students from Grades 7 through 12 performed their closing concert of the year with great success. The Grade 7 band opened the concert with the apropos piece “Kick Start” followed by the Grade 8’s and “Choo Choo Cha-cha- cha”. The Junior Jazz Band then played a swinging version of “Swing State” with great solos by Ami Cai on flute and Anthony Radford-Grant on trumpet. The Crestwood Voices changed the mood with their stately rendition of “Benedictus” and poignant interpretation of the Louis Armstrong classic, “What a Wonderful World” adroitly accompanied by Vincent Li on piano.

The Grade 9 band then wowed the audience with their version of “Prince in Concert”, a tribute to the late pop icon. Maintaining the high energy level came a hot latin piece by the Senior Jazz Band titled “Chili Today, Hot Tamale” with exciting solos from Jacob Reinish on baritone and Adam Golden on alto sax.

To bring the concert to a rousing finish, the Senior Wind Ensemble performed a breathtaking arrangement of Rossini’s “Italian in Algiers” featuring virtuoso solos by Corinna Wu on the clarinet and Roger Zhang on the flute.
