U14 Track and Field
On Tuesday, the U14 Track and Field team represented CPC at a meet at Pickering College. Congratulations to Ryan Ross, Sarah Zhang, and Annie Wen who each competed in 11 events! They threw, jumped and ran past the other schools and made us all proud. Great work, team!
Varsity Track and Field
Congratulations to the Crestwood varsity track team on their great performance on Tuesday at the Country Day School track meet.
The whole team performed well with many athletes setting new personal bests in their events.
Special mention to Robbie Altshuler who placed first in the Midget Boy’s shot-put and Jahnai Brown who placed third in the junior girls shot-put. Well Done everyone!
Junior Girls Soccer
In soccer, sometimes wins come easily and at other times you have to fight for every step taken. The latter was the case as the junior girls’ soccer team played a very tough St. Mildred’s team from Oakville. The opposition was bigger and faster and they pushed our girls to the limit. As each minute passed, it was becoming clearer that a single goal may be all that would be scored in this epic battle between two very good teams. At the end of the first half, the score was still 0-0.
Due to the type of game that was unfolding there had to be a few strategic changes that were made at half. With these changes in place, Crestwood started to create a few more chances as Jahnai Brown was a force as a defender on the back line. Sam Mintz was once again showing her tough hockey skills refusing to be pushed off the ball as she time after time broke free and set up her team mates. Julia Lee was having her challenges against St. Mildred’s defence, but what makes a good player great is the determination to get up even after being knocked down multiple times. And this young lady did not give up! And with about 10 minutes left in the game, she was finally able to get by the defence to score her 13th goal of the season.
Up 1-0, the opposition started to push even harder, but due to the Alexa Gibson’s smart goal-tending and self-sacrificing effort we were able to keep the ball out of our net. The girls remain undefeated with only 2 games remaining. Great job girls!
U14 Softball
This week, the Crestwood U-14 softball team hosted Montcrest in an epic contest of U-14 softball superpowers. The Crestwood boys started things off right away, putting 3 runs on the board in the first inning. From that point on, Crestwood was never behind. All of the bats were on fire throughout the day, with 9 different players recording runs. Ethan Gazer and Jordan Siegel both scored 3 times each. Ethan Adler and Aaron Little’s pitching kept Montcrest from coming back. The final score was Crestwood 16, Montcrest 6. Coach Tanev and Coach Hawkins want to congratulate all the boys on a game well played.
Senior Softball
In a very tight game, the boys put up an excellent offensive display, putting an impressive 20 runs on the board. The team was powered by home runs from Jonah Patel, Anthony Audette, and Sultan Salih. The start of the game was David McCall, who hit three home runs and had 10 RBI.
Unfortunately, Bayview Glen had an equally impressive offensive output, and was able to eke out a 21-20 victory in a game that came down to the wire. Great playing boys!
