The U14 Boys Hockey team played their third game of the regular season on Monday. After a slow start and falling behind 2-0 early, the team battled back and went on to a convincing 10-3 victory. Leading the charge was Jake O’Brien with 3 goals and an assist. Jack van Volsen also added 2 goals and 2 assists along with both Jayden Connors and Anthony Cristofario having 1 goal and 2 assists each. The team travelled to Everest Academy on Wednesday for a one day tournament. Then on Thursday, they were against St Andrews’ College at Fenside Arena, 3PM start.
On Wednesday, the U14 Boys Hockey team traveled to Everest Academy for their Annual Tournament. In their opening game, the team took on one of the three Everest teams. It was a close game but thanks to some stellar goal tending from Paolo Frasca, the team was able to gut out a 2-0 victory. They then took on Hollycrest for their second round robin game and another strong team effort earned them a 4-2 victory, putting Crestwood in first place. Crestwood earned a birth in the semi finals and bypassed the qualification round. The team would face Hollycrest again. It was a hard fought match with the score still 0-0 with under 4 minutes left. Unfortunately, the boys were not able to capitalize on their chances and came up short of their goal.
The U14 Boys Hockey team played St Andrews on Thursday. The team got off to a hot start scoring two PP goals in the first period to take an early 2-0 lead. They then added another goal midway through the second. However, SAC responded with a goal of their own to cut the lead to 3-1. Thanks to some timely saves from Paolo Frasca, the team did not give up another goal and added a late empty net goal to seal the game. See Photos!
Shout out to Jack van Volsen and Sean Doherty with a goal and assist each. The team does not play until the first week back after the break when they travel to Aurora for a rematch with St Andrews. Well done boys!
On Tuesday, the Varsity Girls Hockey team played their first regular season game against De La Salle College. Coming off their victorious run at the Brother Memorial Tournament they did not miss a beat. They came out flying and dominated the game ending the first period with a 5-0 lead. De La Salle could not keep up with our girls and ended the game 6-0. Honorable mentions go out to Alana Burgess for leading the charge with the first shot on net and first goal to start it all. As well as the fancy footwork by Neely Van Volsen displaying some soccer skills on the ice. Lastly, Olivia Chodat who contributed a goal and cookies to fuel the team! The Varsity Boys Hockey team joined in on the winning at Crestwood Wednesday afternoon by securing their first victory of the season against Country Day School. Lead by Christian Campanelli and his 3 goals, 1 assist outing, the squad wore out their opponents, rolling to an 8-2 victory. Jacob Hanning and Luc Malkhassian each contributed a pair, with Sam Li scoring the other. Liam Wagner, Peter Keane, and Aaron Little each added two assists in front of a rock-solid Jacob Hodgson in the crease. Congratulations on a great outing!
Wednesday afternoon, the U-14 D3 Boys Basketball team played their second game of the season. The boys got off to a slow start taking a 9-7 lead in the first quarter. The team regrouped, played a better team style of game, eventually beating SJK 40-29. Special mention must go out to Griffin Brown, Griffin Morgan, Nikita Starov and Ashe McEwen.
On Thursday afternoon, the Under 14 D3 Boys Basketball played their third game of the season against BVG. The team controlled the play of the start. Kanmi Akodu dominating the boards, contributing big points, Eddie Segal and Tommy Yang getting big buckets, Griffin Morgan, Griffin Brown and Tyler Elwood , making timely contributions. Our boys got a big win , beating BVG by the score of 50-45. Our next game is Monday at the TYS. See Photos!
