It was a busy and successful week to Crestwood Athletics this week! Read on to see pictures and outcomes for this week’s games:
Basketball
The Senior Girls Basketball team played their fourth game of the season against Albert College. Playing with a short bench the team united and persevered. With the strong offence play by Areeg Burgonio with 25 points Willa Easton with 10 pts and Jahnai Brown with 8 and last but not least the great outside shooting from Sydney Steinman and the strong defensive play from Samatha Mintz. Coaches Chau and Pagano are extremely proud of the girls and would like to send a special shout out to Yurina Kobayashi for a very strong defensive effort.
The U14 Girls Basketball Team took their undefeated record of 2-0 to Country Day School, to take on another undefeated team of 2-0, and our ladies came out on top. With excellent defense and explosive offense, CPC won the game 52-21, holding CDS to only 10 points in the second half. Great play by all on both sides of the court. Top scorers in the game were Shayeann Day-Wilson with 20 points, Latasha Lattimore with 17 points and Schymera Samuels with 16 points.
Cross Country
The Crestwood U14 Cross Country team ran a great race on Thursday. They battled through technical trails on the challenging Norval course. The team ran hard, leaving it all on the course. Big congratulations to Kyra Grossman who won her race! Well done everyone!
Soccer
The Junior Boys Soccer team traveled to Albert College on Thursday and left victorious with a dominant 9-1 victory. It was a total team effort that was highlighted by goals from Amir, Jacob, Adam, Ege and Aidan. Great job boys!
Mr. De Franco’s U14 Boys soccer team notched their second win in two consecutive games downing the traveling York School in dramatic fashion.
Down a goal by the end of the first half, the boys took Mr. D’s motivational half-time speech to heart, as they came out and played a hard pressing game, battling for each ball and creating scoring opportunities.
The tying goal came on a half volley just outside the box by recently arrived Mamoud Elfeky. Mamoud’s goal was highlight-reel material as he lazered the volley over the keeper’s head and into the top left-hand corner.
Inspired by the goal, the boys weren’t done as Samuel Li, playing on the right wing, took a sharp angle shot that beat the keeper on the left-hand side and cemented the 2-1 win for CPC.
A great win and a great record so far! Compliments to the entire team.
