Senior Girls’ Basketball Team Remains Undefeated!

Basketball

In their first and only home game of the season, the U14 Lady Lions finished off the regular season with a convincing 46-28 victory over HSC.  The Lady Lions took a commanding lead and never looked back.  With great play on both sides of the ball by all, the Lady Lions had their best team performance of the season.  Special mention goes out to Saleah Joseph, who dropped 32 points in the game and Ella Lee-O’Rourke who grabbed a whopping 10 rebounds.  The Lady Lions will now wait and see to find out who their opponents are for next week’s playoff game.

Monday our Junior Girls’ Basketball Team played an away game against Havergal School.  Going into the game, both teams were undefeated and the pressure was on to keep our winning streak.  It was an exciting start with both teams working hard to keep the score even. Seven Crestwood players against over fifteen for our competitors, our girls worked hard the entire game with little to no breaks and took over the court!  Special mention to Tianna Bailey, Zakayla Day-Burrell and Jadaia Reid for amazing leadership.  We remain undefeated, with a final score of 67-44.  Go Lions!

Monday our Senior Girls’ Basketball Team travelled to Havergal College for their fourth game of the season.  After a slow start, the girls picked up the intensity and showed why they were undefeated coming in.  The energy carried over to the second half which saw the final score being CPC 68 – HC 46.

Wednesday night our Senior Lady Lions took on a very physical Ridley College team.  We were able to take an early lead which allowed us to cruise throughout the rest of the game.  Areej Burgonio led all scorers with 19 points.

Soccer

On a chilly October afternoon in Toronto, the U14 Boys’ Soccer Team struck early and often, as they ran away from the visiting Sterling Hall School on Monday afternoon by a 7-3 score.  Just nine minutes in, Adam Pearlman opened the scoring early for his team, with a brilliant well placed strike to put the Lions ahead early. Adam would later go on to net 2 more before the game was done. Not 7 minutes later, Mahmoud Elfeki laced one by the keeper, leaving Sterling Hall feeling defeated.  The game continued with dominance from the Lions, until the second half when Sterling Hall’s player was able to get himself a hat trick. Closing the gap slightly between the two teams. Striker Zack Graff also contributed to scoring twice with 2 beautiful goals.  Special shout out to Hussein Elfeki who chalked up his first CISAA goal.  Monday’s win should guarantee their spot in playoffs.  Mrs. O’Connor and Mr. Koaich were pleased with the team effort in Monday’s game.

On Wednesday, the Junior Boys’ Soccer Team faced off against Bayview Glen.  The team played exceptionally well as a unit as they minimized the chances from the opposition.  Even when Bayview Glen had shots on net, the incredible saves from our keeper Tim Kufner shut them down.  Goals from Alex Korda and Jesse Codron and an amazing 3 goals from Ege Kuseybat led us to a convincing victory.  The boys will finish off their regular season with a game against UCC next Tuesday.

Wednesday afternoon Bayview Glen visited Crestwood to play our Senior Boys’ Soccer Team. Despite conceding an early goal in the first half, CPC battled back to tie the game on the heels of Joseph Eistentraut’s goal. CPC then dominated the play for the remainder of the first half, creating several close chances to score. Unfortunately, Crestwood’s inability to capitalize on its chances cost them in the second half as BVG scored early in the second frame and never looked back. The game ended 4-1 in BVG’s favor. Shout outs go to the junior players who joined the team for Wednesday’s game and who performed admirably: Jonas Weissland, Ege Kuseybat, and Lorenzo Mancini. The team plays its last game of the season away against UCC next week.

Volleyball

After a rough start at the beginning of the week, the U14 Boys were more determined than ever for their game against Greenwood Wednesday afternoon. Although this determination did not result in a win, both coaches Ms. Letham and Ms. Reinsma are super proud of the way the boys played and the skills their improvement.  The last two matches were close games and consisted of many three-hits. Shout outs go to Thomas Ellinidis for his consistent serves as well as Jamey Luepann for his amazing digs and serves.

The Junior Boys’ Volleyball Team continued their season Monday at the Toronto Montessori School. The boys had a rough start, and unfortunately, did not find their momentum until the second set. Even with Armani Mighty blocking almost everything at the net, and Anthony Radford-Grant making jumpless attacks, the boys could not overtake TMS. Other special mentions go out to Imani Mighty for great digs and plays at the net, and Kian Torabi for tough and consistent serves.

The Junior Boys’ Volleyball Team traveled to Greenwood College Wednesday for their second game of the week. Although there were some great serves, plays, and attacks, ours boys could not overtake the home team. The referee of the game spoke to coaches Hann and Wappel, and shared his thoughts on our Lions. He noticed great talent and technique, but said that in order for our boys to win, they need to loosen up and have some fun!

The Senior Boys’ Volleyball Team traveled to the Toronto Montessori School Monday to challenge the Titans. After many hard fought points, the lions came out winning three sets to none. Special shout out to Somachi Agbapu for his huge blocks and hits, Erik Usher for his on court energy and leadership, and to our newest member Juliu De Gauw for his powerful serves.
