What better way to start off the school then by going to camp? That’s exactly what Crestwood’s Grade 7 students got to do. Lead by the fearless Mr. Wan and Ms. Belanger, the students spent 3 days and 2 nights at Spirit Point located in the beautiful northern setting of Nipissing, Ontario. For some of our students this was their first experience sleeping away from home, and a true camp experience.
Students were given the opportunity to truly grow and gain new skills through hands on learning experiences. Small groups worked together to use flint and steel in order to start camp fires, using only natural materials of birch bark and small twigs. All students loved the chance to canoe and had to work in threes to paddle and steer around the lake. One of their most favorite activities were the many team obstacles, especially the low ropes and team wall.
Of course, the very best part of the trip for our teachers was watching the growth of new friendships and memories the students created!
