Dear Parents,
While it was a short week with students in school enjoying the glorious warm weather, we still managed to squeeze in some important events! Thank you to the admin team of the CSPA for hosting the first ZOOM CSPA meeting this past Tuesday. We were so pleased by the exceptional turnout, and had a very productive meeting with great input from our parent body. Look out next week for the minutes from the meeting.
On Wednesday, students in grades 3-6 had the exceptional opportunity to participate in a virtual Remembrance Day presentation with LCol Erik Esselaar. Erik, who is an uncle of a Grade 6 student at Crestwood, used pictures and stories to help students understand the personal sacrifice and bravery required by our service men and women to continue to keep the peace and freedoms we experience in Canada everyday. Learning about the history of Canada, and the current efforts of the Canadian army is one way to show gratitude for their immense contributions to our country. Thank you to David Battista and his students in 6C for organizing the assembly and presenting so eloquently.
Students in JK-Gr. 2 also took part in a virtual Remembrance Day assembly. The students listened to The Last Post, watched a video, The Story of the Poppy, as well as a beautiful animation of what animals experience during war.
We want to thank our teachers for all their hard work to prepare for Parent Teacher Conferences. Unfortunately, we couldn’t hold the meetings in person; however, we are grateful parents were able to take time to hear about their child’s progress.
The weather forecast indicates that the warmer temperatures are soon over and we want to remind parents/guardians to please make sure that the students come to school with all the necessary outdoor gear. Also, please make sure that ALL clothing items are labelled so that, should they go missing and land up in the Lost and Found, we are able to reunite them with the rightful owner.
