Dear Parents,
As we complete our last FULL week of the 2020/2021 school year, we can’t believe this crazy year is coming to an end. Teachers are busy preparing for our final week together, and we are excited to end the year with lots of fun activities, and some very special events, including our virtual graduation for our 2021 graduates on Thursday.
A big congratulations to all our Househead candidates who presented their speeches so eloquently and with such maturity last Friday. Your ideas and promises of how you will contribute to the Crestwood community were inspiring. We can’t wait to see what you have in store for us next year! Thank you, as always, to Mr. Cooper for organizing all the great Househead events this year and for keeping us all connected, even when we were apart. Check out the latest trivia game posted on Edsby – guess the househead baby picture!
The visits with Mrs. Liebenthal this past week in the Primary division focussed on “Friendship”. Friendships come in different forms, and we all need to cherish and nurture them, and be kind to all. We watched a video about 3 different kinds of friendships and how friends help others:
- A good friend will do ANYTHING to help out a friend in need.
- If someone wants to join in on a game you are playing but doesn’t know how to play the game, how do all three manage to find a game that they can all understand so they can play together?
- At times, friends want to be together but cannot decide on what to do. Each one gives a suggestion, but the friends can’t agree on something to do. Both need to compromise so that they can have fun together!
On Thursday this week, Junior students took part in an assembly to recognize and honour Indigenous Canadians. Thank you to all the teachers who were involved in our Indigenous History Month assembly. Students learned about what it was like for a child to attend a residential school, and how we, as Canadians, can take part in the reconciliation process. We hope you continue to explore and discuss this topic with family and friends to keep this important conversation going. We are looking forward to a meaningful Orange Shirt Day at the end of September. The Primary students will take part in a similar age-appropriate assembly on Monday morning.
We want to remind all parents to take note of the “Materials Pickup” schedule next Friday, and please be in touch with your child’s homeroom teacher if you are unable to make it. Also, a reminder to return all Crestwood property including chromebooks, iPads, chargers, library books, textbooks, novels and any classroom supplies.
Wishing you all a wonderful weekend and students, we will see you on Monday for our final week of classes!
