On October 18th, 1929, the High Court of the British Privy Council ruled that women were “persons” and qualified to serve in any position in the Canadian government. This day marks the 92nd anniversary of the Person’s Case.
Today, we will be celebrating this important moment in Canadian history with a tea party. The Famous Five- Emily Murphy, Irene Parleby, Henrietta Muir Edwards, Louise McKinney and Nellie McClung- used tea parties as a way to organize and plan their suffrage campaigns.
