On Tuesday, November 6th, students from senior level social science and humanities classes visited the 2018 Parliament of the World’s Religions at the Metro Convention Centre. This was the first time that Toronto has hosted the event, which called on thousands of representatives from different faith groups to stand together and advocate for a more just, peaceful and sustainable world.
Crestwood students participated in the conference by attending a morning session of keynote addresses, including an opening talk from Dr. Eboo Patel, president of the Interfaith Youth Core and a former member of President Obama’s Advisory Council. Students then enjoyed a vegetarian lunch provided by Toronto’s Sikh community, and they spent the afternoon in the exhibition hall meeting representatives from a number of religious organizations and learning about their traditions.
