Dear Parents, Guardians, Teachers and Students of Crestwood Preparatory College:
I hope this communication finds you all well.
We have had little respite from uncertainty in all quarters for many months. More uncertainty was communicated today, largely the offspring of continuing debates regarding online and in-person schooling.
Another Covid school year end only adds pressure to the need for normalcy when educating our kids. It’s coming.
We received sad news today. The Government of Ontario has decided not to resume in-person learning for the rest of the school year. It would have been good to see the kids finish off this school year while at school, but it was not meant to be. As usual, we put our trust in our government’s decisions and support them anyway we can.
We then received some news regarding “long-deserved” graduation ceremonies that is perplexing. It looks like an old time event, but isn’t. Groups have to be small and follow usual Covid protocol in group settings. The school would have to repeat whatever “outdoor” ceremony several times to accommodate all graduating students, masked, distanced and still subject to reduced ceremony at all levels. For that reason, we have decided that, unless things really open up and we can have a graduation exercise that honours student achievement in a full graduation class setting, we will hold to our current graduation plan and collect on June 22nd at the drive- in theatre.
