Munni Subhani came to us through the Noor Cultural Centre, where she is a member of the congregation. Munni is an accomplished dancer who has taught north Indian classical dance for years at her dance school in Toronto. She says she has found that dance benefits not only the body, but the soul as well, boosting self-esteem, promoting emotional well being and fostering cultural connections. She has taken her passion for teaching in other directions too, teaching ESL to students through the CCVT.
Munni is originally from Bangladesh, but in the early 70s she went to Germany, and later moved to Toronto, facing some challenges. But she persevered and has become an important voice in Toronto’s multicultural community. Munni visited Crestwood in March 2015, where she spoke to the World Religions class on an array of topics.
