Major Alexander Prymack is a currently serving member of the Canadian Forces. Born in 1985, he grew up in the Calgary area. His military career began in 2003, when he attended RMC in Kingston, Ontario. From there he became an artillery troop commander and forward observer, and was deployed to Afghanistan during Operation Attention, where he was involved in training Afghan forces. He then returned to Canada for five years, before being sent out on another mission, this time to Jerusalem as part of Operation Proteus, helping to shore up Palestinian security operations in the West Bank. In 2018 he took part in Trident Juncture, a massive NATO operation in Norway, designed to counter potential Russian aggression. In 2020-21 he attended the Canadian Forces College in Toronto (remotely, because of the pandemic), working on an advanced degree in military studies. He bravely volunteered to spend some time with Mr. Masters/Politics 12 class, and we were able to interview him about his career and experiences over zoom, so students can continue to see how international relations work in the real world.
