Meet the Teacher: Nicole Reinsma
Subject: English and Drama
Grades: 7 – 10
Ms. Reinsma grew up in the countryside of Bowmanville, Ontario. Her father works for a tech company, but Nicole took after her mother, who is also a grade 7/8 teacher. She is thankful that she is close to her two brothers; so close that she actually lives in the city with her older brother and sister-in-law!
She loves to get outside by cycling, camping, canoeing or hiking. Ms. Reinsma gets pretty competitive while playing sports, especially volleyball, soccer and softball. You can also find her relaxing with a cup of coffee with friends, practising yoga or reading a good book.
Ms. Reinsma wanted to be a teacher for as long as she can remember. She used to make her brothers “play school” when they were young. More importantly, there were a couple of years where learning was tough for her, especially in mathematics; as a result, she is passionate about making school a fun place where students can feel confident when learning.
Over the last couple of years, Ms. Reinsma has experienced many memorable moments at Crestwood. She loves when something humorous happens in a class, with a team or club and it becomes a re-occuring joke for the rest of the year.
Apparently, she has strong outdoor survival skills, so you’ll want to have her in your group if you ever find yourself in the wilderness!
Ms. Reinsma is very thankful to work with this amazing Crestwood staff and in this positive community.
