Over the March Break a group of 15 students and three teachers traveled to sunny Nicaragua to help build a playground for a school located in the El Trapicha community. Eager to begin their work, Crestwood kids quickly settled into their lovely accommodations in Managua. After only a day of getting acquainted off they went to help poor concrete, fetch water from the well and learn about the needs of a less fortunate community. Crestwood students shone in their efforts and experienced life changing events. Some other places visited while in Nicaragua included the active Masay Volcano, The Organic Fair Trade coffee plantation, and of course Cafe Sonrisas (the Smiling Cafe) where we witnessed Hammocks being made by people who were blind and deaf. The trip seemed to just begin and then it was ended, but not without some wonderful memories and experiences.
