September is upon us and, once again, the summer has flown by! What an amazing year the students will have learning new concepts, making new friends and enjoying all the wonderful activities Crestwood has to offer. Allow me to introduce myself: My name is Kyra Gurney and I am the new Primary French teacher. I will be teaching French to the JK and SK classes, as well as grades one and two. I have come to Crestwood after spending ten years teaching French Immersion at the junior and intermediate grade levels in York Region. Additionally, I have garnered experience at the primary level by working at nearby Children’s Garden Nursery School as both a French teacher and as an Administrator. After having completed my concurrent education/undergraduate degree in a French Teaching Specialization from the University of Waterloo and Brock University, I went on to live abroad in Nantes, France for a year. There, I lived with a host family with whom I am still close to today. I hope to instill a love of languages through various games, activities and hands-on learning experiences throughout the year. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two children, traveling, binge watching shows on Netflix, as well as following the incredible world of women’s artistic gymnastics.
