The junior students are learning about Indigenous Canadian Music. Check out Laura Niquay (video below), who is a singer songwriter from Wemotaci, Quebec. She was nominated for the 2021 Polaris Music Prize. The Polaris Music Prize is a not-for-profit Canadian music award that celebrates creativity and diversity. We also listened to music from the 2014 and 2015 winners Buffy Sainte-Marie and Tanya Tagaq (who is an Inuit throat singer).
