How do you get some Alligator Pie? You visit the Toronto Symphony Orchestra at Roy Thomson Hall like the Primary Division did on Tuesday. What a treat it was to hear famous Canadian poet Dennis Lee and a professional opera singer, paired up with the Toronto Orchestra. During our interactive session we listened to all of the instruments and chanted along to some of the poems. We learned about rhyme and rhythm and the conductor explained how the music was composed to “paint a picture” of the poems. Try doing this at home by using your hands as instruments to clap, snap, or rub in order to build rhythm to poems like “Alligator Pie”.
