The U12 Coed Hockey team defeated Royal St Georges College 7-5 on Friday to capture the Division 1(B) Championship at UCC. The boys and girls grabbed three exciting victories en route to their second title in three years. Last year we lost the final to SAC in overtime. We have ten teams in our CIS U12 DIV1 league. The top four teams (UCC “6”, TFS, Crescent, SAC) play for the top title and the next six teams (RSGC, Crestwood, UCC “5”, SHS, PC and CDS) play for a consolation cup.
We began our day against a resilient Country Day School team that had us down 2-0 before we realized we were playing a hockey game. The players stayed calm and we eventually broke through in the second period before storming back and stuffing the Cyclones 6-4. Our second game was another tough test as we faced the UCC “5” team in their packed home arena. It was a back and forth affair and the Blues had us down 3-1 heading into the third but we popped a quick powerplay marker and never looked back, blasting the Blues 6-4. The championship game had us facing a tough Royal St Georges squad who had recently defeated us 6-2 at Bill Bolton Arena. The boys and girls executed our game plan perfectly and we were able to capture the title with a 7-5 victory. Congrats to all of our players and their parents for your hard work, commitment, sportsmanship and support throughout this hockey season.
