On Thursday, the Grade Ones had their annual trip to the Harbourfront Centre. In the morning, the children learned about the first books ever used before making their own. Everyone was given very delicate Japanese paper to fold into accordion books. Following that they designed a special cover before assembling their books. We are sure these wonderful books will inspire very creative stories! In the afternoon, everyone was excited by a mini puppet show before learning all about shadow, hand and marionette or ‘string’ puppets. After that, everyone was given a wooden spoon to decorate with markers. Then, the instructions were given to create a face using felt, buttons and sequins. Attaching rods and fancy, embellished outfits completed the puppets. Thank you to our wonderful Harbourfront instructor for such a wonderfully creative and inspiring day!
