Did you know that over 897,000 people in Toronto count on the food bank to provide their family with food? While food banks get most of their donations over the holidays, there is a great need for donations year round. In fact, as the holidays put additional stress on food banks, many find themselves without enough food after the holidays to continue providing for the families who rely on them throughout the year. Every year the number of people who use food banks in Toronto increases.
Crestwood School is gearing up to launch its annual food drive from Monday, January 23rd – Friday, January 27th. Donations will be given to the North York Harvest Food Bank, which serves families right here in our community. Last year, Crestwood’s food drive raised more than 200 pounds of food for the North York Harvest Food Bank! Our goal this year is to raise 300 pounds to help keep up with the increasing demands the food bank is facing.
This year, the food bank is specifically looking for:
– canned fruits and vegetables
– pasta and pasta sauce
– rice
– cereal
– granola bars
– tuna fish
– canned mean
– beans
– baby food
– peanut butter
Donation bins will be located near the ramp door in the Junior building, and in the Atrium. Thank you for your support in showing our community how much Crestwood Cares.
