The eight brave members of Crestwood’s U12 Flag Football team hit the gridiron early Wednesday morning for their final tournament. As the team took the field in their first game they knew they had to come out strong against Bond Academy if they had any hope of claiming the ultimate victory. Playing as they trained the team played tough from the first snap dominating Bond 18 – 0.
Playing iron man football (offense and defense) against larger rested teams the Cubs weren’t holding back and after conceding some points battled to a 29 – 12 victory over Khalsa Community School. After some rest the team matched up against Everest Academy and held them to one touchdown winning 33 – 7. The team’s final challenge before heading to the championships was against the tournament hosts Lynn-Rose heights. Though their competition had some great runners, the team pulled out another victory 33 – 12.
Facing off against Bond Academy once again in the championship game, the team did not give up until the final whistle. Though much closer than the first contest with Bond, the Crestwood U12’s didn’t hold back and became Crestwood’s first ever Flag Football Champions with a 22 – 12 win.
