The Grade 5 and 6 students participated in an eye opening workshop on Wednesday about the impact the fashion industry is having on our environment and the world abroad. The workshop was organized by the Eco Team, in an effort to help Crestwood students become more educated in how to be responsible consumers of fashion. Students learned about the environmental impact of “Fast Fashion”, driven by low prices, low quality, and exploiting low wage workers in other countries. Students discovered the 7R’s of responsible fashion including reducing our consumption, and reusing clothes through hand-me-downs or second hand shopping. As well, students were most excited about repurposing old T-shirts into tote bags, using only a pair of scissors! It was incredible to see the passion it ignited in our student body to be more responsible shoppers and become more active global citizens. Thank you Eco team for organizing this incredible workshop.
