CPC students have spent this year actively finding ways to support those who have been affected by the pandemic. At the onset of the pandemic in March 2020, our community donated over 500 lunches to thank frontline healthcare workers at four different hospitals across the city. Following the second shutdown, our Grade 7-12 students began “sending sunshine” to elderly individuals who have been socially isolated from their family and friends over the last year. Our students have been making beautiful handcrafted cards to remind elderly individuals living in long-term care homes that they are loved. Most recently our students have been putting together “hygiene kits” for the homeless. These kits will be donated directly to individuals experiencing homelessness in the GTA, and will help bring dignity to those individuals by providing them with the essentials they need to start their day. These community service initiatives not only help others in need, but also provide our students with the opportunity to support and strengthen their local communities, develop empathy and leadership skills, and expand their worldview.
