The Crestwood Gives deadline is fast approaching! The last day to bring in donations is December 4th.
Crestwood gives is a community initiative we take part in to help the community during the holiday season. This year we are working with 2 organizations, Native Child and Family Services and Durham Children’s Aid. They have given us 16 families in need of holiday support with lots of presents and winter necessities. Native Child and Family Services strides to provide a life of quality and care for the First Nations children and families in the Toronto Native Community. Most of these families are in need of the basic supplies that we take for granted. The Durham Children’s Aid Society is responsible for providing child protection services to children under the age of 16 and their families. They hope to assure safety for the children.
Most of the families have asked for gift cards to grocery stores so they can feed their families throughout the winter. They have also asked for holiday gifts for their kids. These families can benefit from the simplest things such as a grocery gift card, toothbrush, toothpaste and simple hygiene products. For many of these families, this is the only opportunity they will get to provide gifts for the children. The children in each family ranges from 1 to 17 years old. Each homeroom has been assigned a family who have a list of their needs and wants and as part of the Crestwood community we should give back and support these families.
