Basketball
The Junior Boys’ CISAA basketball team picked up a huge win over St. Mike’s 79-72 on Wednesday afternoon. The boys led 48-25 at halftime, but St. Mike’s would not go away in the 2nd half, closing the lead to 1 point with less than 3 minutes to play. The Lions regained their composure though, hitting 7 out of 8 free-throws down the stretch to seal the victory. Matthew Nelsons was the high scorer with 28 points while K’Shawn Latty and Jaden Langley-Thomas each scored 20. Armani Mighty added 8 points as well. The win moves the junior team to 10-0 in CISAA action and guarantees the Lions will have the #1 seed for the Junior CISAA playoffs.
The Crestwood Junior CISAA Boys’ Basketball team kicked off Spirit Week with a bang, defeating Appley College by a score of 60-34 on Monday afternoon. A total of 12 different players got on the scoresheet, as everyone provided great minutes throughout the game. Jaden Langley-Thomas led the way with 16 points, while K’Shawn Latty pitched in 10 and a couple of dunks. Imani Mighty added 7, while Armani had 6.
The Senior Boys’ Basketball team put on a show defeating St. Michael’s College 75 – 48 on Wednesday at home. Go Lions go!
Hockey
The Crestwood Lions U-14 Hockey team had a stupendous showing last night, tying a very skilled TFS team 6-6. Eric “the magic man” Chen scored another 5 goals, putting on a clinic. The defensemen purposely skates into defenders just to show off his silky mitts and bury the puck in style. Olivia Chodat tallied her first goal of the year, supported by the strong hustle of Dylan Wilkinson and Robbie White. The little lions are looking good. Great game everyone!
Volleyball
The Senior Girls’ Volleyball team jumped out to a commanding two sets to none lead highlighted by incredible overall team play. Rachel Pape, Julia Lee, Areej Burgonio had intimidating attacks, Jahnai Brown and Sacha Snyder played relentless defence, Alex Saunders provided pinpoint sets and Willa Easton and Laura Chu gave consistent serves. Unfortunately, Albert College came on strong and ended up winning in five close and tightly contested sets. Great game ladies!
Swimming
Yesterday, eight varsity swimmers represented CPC at their third meet of the season. Again, it was another day of great racing! Season newcomer, Audrey Melkomov, had two great races, posting strong times for her 100 Back and 100 IM. Kaitlyn Balter had her best meet of the season, placing fourth in her 50 Breaststroke, and chalking up two new personal best times. The last CPC race was a duel in the pool. Sam Douey and Alex Fallows were racing side-by-side for their 50 Breaststroke. It was anyone’s race right until the finish, when Sam out-touched Alex by a tenth of a second! Great work to all swimmers who participated!
Curling
Monday’s Varsity Boys’ Curling game began with both teams playing exceptionally well, both in their strategy and shot execution, as shown by a 1-1 score after two ends. York School took 4 points in the 3rd end, aided by a wall of guards on the center-line. Though they also stole 3 more points in the 4th, our team fought hard and answered back with 4 points of our own in the 5th. Unfortunately, we weren’t also able to steal points in the 6th, and so York School took the game. Each team now has one win and one loss against the other in this rivalry!
