Swimming
Congratulations to all swimmers who participated in Wednesday’s meet at the Markham Pan Am Centre. With even less swimmers than normal, CPC still had 13 personal best swims, and many that were just a few tenths off. Shout out goes to Terry Wu who swam a best time in his 50 free, and posted a very fast time for his first ever 100 free. Megan Pearlman swam great once again, posting times well under the OFSAA time standard. Sarah Douey had two great free races, dropping time in both of them. Our final in-season meet is next Tuesday, with the championships on February 20th!
Basketball
The Crestwood Junior Boys DI Basketball team won a tough road contest against Appleby College 69-61. The Lions had a hard time shaking Appleby, despite leading by double-digits several times throughout the game. Kailon Nicholls led the way with 27 points, while Matai Baptiste added 11 and Immanuel Oludele 10. Zack Graff earns player of the game honors with his tremendous effort, forcing 5 steals, and hitting a huge 3-pointer late in regulation. The Crestwood Junior boys will be back in action at home against St. Andrew’s College this coming Monday. Tip-off is set for 3:30pm.
Volleyball
On Wednesday, the Senior Girls’ Volleyball team travelled to Belleville to play two matches. In their first game against Albert College, the girls seemed very weary from the long bus ride and lost in straight sets. In the second game, the girls faced a much stronger team from Hawthorne. In a much improved effort, the girls pulled together behind the impressive serving from Audrey Melkoumov and the defence of Willa Easton to come away with a 2-1 victory. With a record of 6 wins and 2 losses, the girls look to further improve their record as they play 4 games next week.
