On Wednesday afternoon, members from the Crestwood Chess Club hosted a junior and senior team chess match against players from Victoria Park Secondary School, one of the top chess programs in the city. Our senior team, captained by Navid Sarshar, played a strong match despite being shorthanded but eventually lost 3-2. Our junior team also lost, despite a valiant effort by captain Victor Strogonov in his match. A special thank-you to our substitutes David Huang and Robert McHale, who filled in at the last minute on our senior team, and to Simran Anand who played bravely for our junior team in her first competitive match for Crestwood.
Our teams will travel to Victoria Park Secondary School next week for the second half of the match.
