Our winter season tryouts are well underway and most teams have been selected and are starting team practices. The CISAA season officially begins December 1st and we look forward to seeing our Lions back in action on the court, rink and pool. A few teams have started some exhibition play, proving that CPC will be a force to reckon with this season.
Our Senior Boys Elite Basketball team has had a busy week. They travelled to Atlanta to compete in a Showcase Event called Double Trouble. After losing a tough first game the boys bounced back to win the Showcase game by a score of 69-62. The boys came back to play an OSBA match against Fort Erie International Academy on Tuesday evening. After a slow start in the first, our Lions fought back to win the game 97-87. Lead scorers were Zaiden Cross with 32 points and Elijah Fisher with 18 points.
Yesterday the Varsity Girls Hockey Team travelled to Trinity College to play in their first exhibition game of the season. The girls were fired up and hungry to win, they took advantage of their speed and strength to put the other team on the defensive right from the beginning. The scoring started with a great effort by Sadie Hotles in the first period to put them into the lead and then the scoring kept going. There were some amazing snipes by Karianne Engelbert, Neely Van Volsen, and Jenna Smellie to cement the victory for the girls taking the game 4-1. Stay tuned as the team plays two more exhibition games next week!
The Junior Boys’ Hockey team continued their excellent preseason form on Thursday in an exhibition game at Fenside against Blyth Academy. After a slow start, going down 1-0 very early in the 1st, the team bounced back with a natural hat trick by Jack Van Volsen, who would finish the game with 4 goals and 1 assist. There was no looking back from there, as Ewan McChesney and Jaiden Newton got on the board with grade 8 studs Charlie Hotles and Javian Nei sniping as well. Multi-assist games from Anthony Cristoforo and Jayden Connors rounded out the scoring, as the Lions cruised to an 8-1 victory. Great work, let’s keep rolling!
