Hey Crestwood Community, Will Malisch here. It’s been about six years since I graduated from Crestwood. Time really does fly. After Crestwood, I went to Western University, where I pursued a business administration degree as part of the Ivey business program. I continued my snowboard cross career for the first two years, until pulling out to focus on school. However, when I got the call to compete at the University World Games in Krasnoyarsk, Russia, hosted by FISU, I couldn’t turn that down. Now I am actually retired from the sport but can confidently say I am Canada’s best snowboard cross student, as I won the gold medal, becoming the first snowboard gold of all time for Canada at the games. It was a good way to go out.
Since then I have really started to focus on school. I found a passion in computer development and enrolled in a second degree: computer science. It is now March 2021, and I was supposed to be finishing within a month, but unfortunately got an injury that wouldn’t allow me to complete the year. It was a tough set back, but that’s just the way it goes sometimes. I was lucky enough to find a Software Engineering job at RBC for the summer, and am hopefully going to gain some great skills there before returning for my last semester to finish things off. It has been a great six years, and I can’t wait to graduate from my undergrad, hop into a full-time career and start my computer science Master’s degree.
