Grade 8 students received a visit from the Guidance Department this week to discuss the changes which have been made by the Ministry of Education regarding the timing of the completion of community service initiatives. Students may now begin working to complete their mandatory 40 hours of community service in the summer before Grade 9. Guidance discussed appropriate community service initiatives and the best ways in which to become involved at Crestwood and the community at large.
Students who would like help finding service opportunities should speak to a counselor or peruse the “Community Service Opportunities” binder available in Guidance. As well, the VolunteerToronto website is a great resource that students in all grades can use to search for short and long-term volunteer opportunities in their neighbourhood.
