The Crestwood School Co-Ed Hockey team defeated The Toronto French School 5-2 yesterday to begin the hockey season with two straight wins. The Cubs played a solid game from start to finish using strong skating, positive puck movement and deft defence. It was a tight contest for a period and half with chances being traded back and forth. We finally broke through midway through the second stanza when first year player Beckett Sennecke popped a Spencer McInnis rebound past the TFS goalie. The chances continued and we were able to build a 5-0 lead using a steady five-player attack led by our four defencemen: Jack Woynarski, Mateo Rocha, Hudson DiIulio and Adam Grunberg. Goal scorers included Brad Parker with 2, Beckett Sennecke with 2 and first year grade 6 player Noa Farberman who scored her first goal for Crestwood on a beautiful setup from fellow classmate Maya Shapiro. Rookie goalie Josh Paquin made many acrobatic saves throughout the contest to backstop the win. Nice win boys and girls! We will pickup our schedule after the holidays.
