Rare Opportunity

To celebrate Family Literacy Day on January 27 at 4:30pm, Award winning Toronto author, Barbara Reid, will be doing a FREE virtual demonstration on how to create a picture from clay. Indigenous Canadian Music

  The junior students are learning about Indigenous Canadian Music. Check out Laura Niquay (video below), who is a singer songwriter from Wemotaci, Quebec. She was nominated for the 2021 Polaris Music Prize. The Polaris Music Prize is a not-for-profit Canadian music award that celebrates creativity and diversity.   6A participated in the CBC Kids News in the classroom this week. We learned all about how to write a news article. We learned about the acronym TRQEE. Prisms & Pyramids

  3C and 3D have been learning about geometric shapes in math this week.  Using marshmallows and toothpicks, students were challenged to construct three-dimensional prisms and pyramids.  They were then asked to compare each shape’s faces, edges, and vertices.  An additional challenge of creating more difficult shapes was also presented. Sports Report

  Our return to intramural sports this year was embraced by eager students from grades 3-6. Although a slightly different season than in previous years, the return to sports filled a void in school life that was felt by many. Over 160 students took part in our intramural sports program.   Wow!  Crestwood students love their books! Our Scholastic Book Fair was a huge success!
