10 crew members, 9 sound and light technicians, 22 cast members, 1 director, 6 months, and the support of all Crestwood teachers and students…this is Bugsy Malone! See great pictures from the event and a message from Ms. McCourt.
Welcome to the Roaring 1920’s! A time of Jazz, Speakeasies, Dancers, Gangsters, and, of course, Bugsy Malone. Crestwood Preparatory College is proud to bring this exciting era to life with this action-packed, gangster comedy, complete with live music, singing and dancing. Bugsy enters 1929 New York City and stumbles into a gang war between Fat Sam Stacetto and Dandy Dan. Dandy Dan’s hoodlums terrorize the district, exterminating undesirables with their new weapon ‘splurge guns’. His rival Fat Sam, who runs the Grand Slam Speakeasy, still uses old fashioned pies. Fat Sam engages the help of Bugsy Malone, who has been more occupied in sweet talking Blousey Brown, a would-be girl singer. With Bugsy’s help, Fat Sam escapes from a frame up but he learns later that Dandy Dan’s mob have splurged nearly all his gang. Bugsy, with help from a bunch of down and outs, steal the splurge guns before the police arrive, led by Captain Smolsky and Lieutenant O’Dreary. Finally Dandy Dan prepares for a showdown at Fat Sam’s speakeasy. When his mob burst in, Bugsy and the guys let ’em have it. Out of the gooey pandemonium all sides make up. Peace has broken out at last.
The cast and crew had a wonderful time putting on this production, and our two shows just went by too fast! Thank you to everyone involved in making this play such a swinging good time!
