The Grade 3 students went on a field trip to “Baskits” this afternoon.
Robin Kovitz, a Grade 3 parent, is the proud owner of Baskits. For over 30 years, Baskits has had the privilege of serving thousands of loyal customers on a regular basis. Baskits was founded on, and is motivated by, the kind and thoughtful act of giving; a core value that is the heart of their efforts and the reason for supporting our country and community in return.
As a grade, we travelled to Baskits to create Birthday Boxes for the Northern Birthday Box Project. This is an organization created to assist in bringing birthday fun to children aged 1-17, living in remote and Northern Canada. Baskits will provide, sponsor and ship 18 boxes to children in a First Nations community in Ontario. Crestwood’s Grade 3 students packed the boxes with themed plates, cups and party hats, as well as cake mix, icing, candles, streamers and balloons. It was a great opportunity for the children to give back to Canada’s Aboriginal Community as we learned about their hardships in Early Canada.
