Basketball
The U14 Boys’ Basketball team travelled to play at St Andrew’s College Wednesday. In their first game of the season, the boys did not disappoint. The Lions played great defence in the first quarter which helped them jump out to a 15-0 lead. The boys continued to play great defence throughout, which helped propel them to a 47-16 win over St. Andrew’s. The Lions were led by Pharaoh Wendt’s 19 points and Mikkel Tyne’s 17 points. All 13 boys who suited up for the game gave great contributions and helped us get our first win! The U14 Boys will be right back at it as they play their first home game on Monday @ 3:30. Make sure to come out and support!
The Junior DI Boys’ Basketball team moved to 3-0 in CISAA action with a 72-52 win at St. Andrew’s College on Wednesday. The Lions jumped out to a 16-0 lead in the 1st quarter before a frustrating 2nd quarter led to a close game at halftime. In the 2nd half, the Lions regained their composure and were able to put the game away for good. Elias Papaconstantinos was hot from 3-point range, hitting six 3s on route to 20 points. Caiden Oshinowa scored 12 points in the 1st quarter and ended the game with 15 points. Other double-digit scorers included Kailon Nicholls with 17 and Immanuel Oludele with 10. This was the Junior Lions final CISAA game before the winter break. They will be back in action Wednesday, January 9 at Trinity College School.
Hockey
On Friday, the Varsity Hockey Team hosted their home opener against a talented Country Day School squad and didn’t disappoint. Jumping out to a 1-0 lead midway through the first period, CPC continued to score at will and walk away with a 9-4 victory. Once again Jayden Bennett played a remarkable game in net but he also had the offensive support from the likes of Cole Eichler (5 goals, 1 assist), Christian Campanelli (1 goal, 3 assists), Aaron Little (1 goal, 2 assists) and Josh Moozar and Sean Zelman who had their first goals of the season. The boys look to continue in their winning ways when they take on Greenwood College School this Wednesday, all are encouraged to come out and cheer us on.
Volleyball
The U14 Girls Volleyball team hosted their exhibition home opener Monday after school against The York School. Although The York School tried their hardest on the court, our CPC Lions came out on top, winning two games 25 to 14 and 25 to 22. Honourable mentions go out to captain Taylor Howell for her leadership on the court, Beatrice Park for going after every ball, and Chiara Codron and Tinamarie Otchere for their serving streaks. Ms. Reinsma and Ms. Doble are looking forward to see more “three-hitters” on our side of the court at our next game in January!
The Junior Girls’ Volleyball team travelled to Albert College School Wednesday for their double header against Albert and Bayview Glen. Our lady lions played excellent volleyball but faced some fierce competition. The scores were tight, and we fought until the end but had losses in each game by 2 to 3 points. We want to mention the awesome blocks and hits by Ella Okubasu, great all around play and solid setting by Edith Hanning, and fantastic hits by Christine Kong. Great playing ladies!
