The Crestwood community grieves the senseless loss of eight lives in Atlanta, Georgia, six of whom were women of Asian descent. Our heart goes out to all the victims and their families. This heinous crime represents only one instance amidst a surge of Anti-Asian violence since the beginning of the pandemic, which disproportionately affects women. These events are linked to a long and documented history of Anti-Asian incidents both in the US and at home.
We stand in solidarity with the Asian community, and our Asian families, students and staff. We acknowledge the complex intersectionality of recent events with gender-based violence and labour discrimination. We remain committed to continuing the work of dismantling discrimination in all forms, and fostering a culture that hears, amplifies and supports the plurality of voices in our community. We urge you to join us as we continue the journey to better allyship.
