Theatre Arts is an integral part of the curriculum at Crestwood School. we believe that communication through self-expression is essential to the creative development of each student. Through classroom exercises, students are encouraged to explore their own dramatic abilities and to interact with others in group situations. Emphasis is placed not only upon creativity and spontaneity, but upon discipline and responsibility in performing. One of the highlights of each year at Crestwood is the production of a major musical. All students in grades 4-6 are encouraged to participate in the play in some capacity and to share in the learning experience and fun which a project of such scope presents. Musicals that Crestwood students have performed include: The Wizard of Oz, Annie, Oliver, My Fair Lady, Grease, Les Miserables, The Lion King, The Prince and The Pauper, Bye Bye Birdie, and Fiddler on the Roof. Each new play has brought with it a new challenge, and each year, through the devotion, hard work, and talent of the students and staff, productions of superior quality have resulted.
