Class 5B is continuing to learn all about the different systems in the human body. This week, we focused on the digestive system. We finished the week with a science experiment that allowed us to understand and examine what actually happens when we eat food from beginning to end! We looked at how saliva helps us break apart the molecules that bind food together using crackers. We also used bread, apple juice, and ziploc bags to deepen our understanding of how the stomach uses acid and muscles to further break the molecular bonds of food through digestion. It was really fun, and REALLY GROSS! We can’t wait to find out what the circulatory system has in store for us!
