The safety of Crestwood students is always the most important consideration at school. With that in mind, Crestwood staff would like to remind you of the routines and rules surrounding the drop off and pick-up of your children.
Before school:
* All students should be dropped off at the atrium if they are arriving at school before 8:20 a.m. Please do not drop your children at the atrium before 7:45 am. Before Care begins at 7:45 a.m. Teachers are not available to supervise your children until that time.
* If your child has a before school appointment with a teacher in the Junior Building, please park in the visitor parking in order to enable your child to make their way to the front door safely. Please do not drop children on the road that passes through the Crestwood parking lot. This is a throughway like any other road, and when you stop and allow your children to exit the car there, they are exiting in the middle of the road.
* If you are arriving at school to drop off your children after 8:20 a.m., please drop primary students, (Grades JK to 3) and Junior and Intermediate level students at the Atrium door. Junior Intermediate students will then make their way to the crosswalk where there is a teacher on duty. Please do not drop them off in the middle of the road.
* If you arrive late for school, please drop students from JK to Grade 2 at the Atrium door. Students from Grade 3 to 7 should enter the main building through the front door and make their way to the classes. We ask that you park in the visitor’s parking so that your child is able to make his/her way to the building without crossing the road on their own. If this is not possible, please park your car in the Glendon parking lot, (Glendon gives a 15 minute grace period for parking) and escort your children to the appropriate school entry. Please do not park in the designated teacher spots.
After School:
* Parents picking up from the Atrium should join the single line of cars parked down the north side of Lawrence. Your children will be escorted to your car as the line progresses past the front doors of the Atrium. Please pull up to the end of the canopy if you are able. We ask that you remain respectful of other parents by remaining in the single line and waiting your turn. This will allow the teachers to bring all children to their cars as safely, quickly and efficiently as possible.
* Parents picking up from the back of the main building should park their cars in the designated spots in the back lot and walk to the pick up area. Students or parents picking up must provide the on duty teacher with their carpool number before the student leaves this area. This helps us to ensure that the right person is picking up students. In addition, students are not allowed to cross through the lot to waiting cars without an adult escort. This lot is also a throughway for cars coming from Glendon, as well as those parents exiting carpool after pick up.
Thank you for your attention to these very specific instructions, and for your cooperation in following through. These procedures enable us to be as safe as possible during the “organized chaos” of pick up and drop off.
