On Wednesday, May 20th, the grade 1’s, 2’s and 3’s had some very special visitors. Kevin Myran is an aboriginal story teller who works with the Toronto Council Fire and runs a program called “Little Embers”. He told Madame Martin that he would love to come to Crestwood, meet the kids, and talk to them about some things that are very important to him.
Kevin brought his wisdom, some medicine (sweet grass and sage), and his friend Thunder Jack to sing and play the drum for us. Then, he told us the story of how the rabbit got his long ears and explained why the turtle shell has 13 plates.
Kevin’s stories were creative, fun, and filled with very valuable lessons: Be strong, be brave, and never give up !!
Kevin and Thunder Jack told Madame Martin that they really enjoyed their visit and would love to come back again next year.
